FAS
'Skills for Work' Training
Chamber member FAS "Services
to Business" section tells us their Skills For Work
programme is now up and
running. The training programme is of
most benefit to employees who finished their formal education early
or who are out of formal education and training for some time.

Newbridge
Chamber representation on Kildare County Council's Strategic
Policy Committees (SPCs)
As
part of the Government's Millennium Action programme, it set out a
commitment to the restoration of real decision-making and power to
local authorities and local people. An important step in this
direction was the proposal to establish policy centred Strategic
Policy Committees within each city and county authority.
SPCs
make available to Councillors a framework and opportunity to
fulfill to a far greater extent their role as policy makers. It
also develops opportunities for partnership with local interests.
The elected representatives on SPCs are local people (including
Newbridge Chamber reps.) who have a similar role to that of a
board of directors. The SPC system provides a better focus
and enhanced capacity for involvement in policy formulation,
review and evaluation. They also help prepare the groundwork
for policies which are then decided on by the county councils.
Latest
minutes from Transportation SPC may be accessed here.

Business Guides
Chambers
Ireland has produced a set of six Business Guides to provide
small business owners with practical advice and tips to help
you make informed business decisions. In recent surveys with
chamber members we identified the issues that cause most strain for
the busy owner manager/director. These guides aim to provide real
and tangible solutions to common business problems. We have
partnered with some of the key market movers in each sector to
produce these guides. The guides were edited by John Costello,
a leading national newspaper journalist who previously edited the
Irish Independent's small business magazine. Using John's
expertise we have managed to deliver high quality, independent
content in a user friendly way. Click on the PDFs below to print off
your own copies.
